Favorite Instagram Accounts I Follow

19 Sep

Hey guys!

In addition to The Gift of Gab, I also have an IG account that’s dedicated to my lifestyle. At times you’ll find me promoting my blog posts, YouTube videos, and products that I’m loving at the moment. If you don’t follow my Instagram, be sure to at @classysassg.

I have wonderful followers, but I’m also happy to state I follow accounts that serve different purposes, but I feel have the best content out there. It’s not often I grow to love an IG account, so you’ll discover the ones I discuss in this post, are a few that are worth the follow.

@thingsbitchessay is a parody account, dedicated to all memes meant to empower or expose the “HBIC”. A lot of the time, I can relate to this account’s posts, and I know a lot of girls would. It’s all in good fun, and the best part? It never portrays a woman as “weak” or a “damsel”. I often find that IG accounts dedicated to memes can be sexist in that it only shows the “man’s side” of things. Who doesn’t love an account like @thingsbitchessay that basically screams “I am woman, hear me roar.”

@tipsyontravel is an IG account based on blogger Leanne’s life. She records all of her travel adventures through stunning visual photography, along with detailed descriptions. I only follow travel and lifestyle IG accounts when their content is high quality, because who doesn’t get drawn in by sight? Also, photo’s that make you feel you are there in the moment, are the ones that transcend meaning most to me.

@olivia.lines will take you into her world, through her eyes. The contrast and saturation of her photographs, really make for a unique IG quality that not many accounts strive for because they don’t know that’s exactly what their viewers want to see. To be able to view a day in the life, whether it’s traveling to a foreign country, sitting and having your meal, or taking a photograph of street lights, this IG account’s authenticity makes it extremely fascinating!

@wineandfoodblog IG account is based off of the blog, Wine, Food and Friends, which is based around different recipes, that are categorized by each meal course. The IG account and blog owner, Lindsay, captures the essence of her recipes in her IG photographs, and usually focus on one item per photo. I find this technique appeals most to me because simplicity in staging is often all you need to reel your audience in for more.

@themiamimenu is an IG account dedicated to photographs of delicious foods, whether it’s homemade or from a restaurant in the Miami area. I live in South Florida, so whenever I see accounts dedicated to promoting foods in the area, I’m all for the follow. I also love to drool over amazing food photographs, especially if they are fattening just to get my visual fix. Then I pinch myself, and back on my diet I am again. No harm done, but I also get an idea of what I can indulge in come my cheat meal night.

@oliviathevegan is dedicated to veganism and the foods that the account owner, Olivia, eats on a daily basis. Her vegan bowl pictures always have me dreaming about eating them. I’m personally not a vegan, but I’m always on the hunt for new healthy recipes to incorporate into my diet, and she has the best ideas for just that! She makes veganism look easy, flawless and most importantly – delicious.

@beautybykat____ showcases her work of looks created on her YouTube makeup channel, along with product breakdowns of these looks on her IG account. I love how creative Kat gets, and is always coming up with amazing cut-crease eye makeup looks. She’s a natural artist, and her IG account expresses that point across to her audience. Plus, she’s a total sweetheart!

@christinaschiccorner is a beauty blogger who like me, promotes her blog posts often on her IG account. Christina has the best posts based all around beauty and lifestyle. From hair, to makeup, to skincare, she’s got it down to a science. She takes awesome photographs, and has a nice clean theme for her IG account. Plus, she’s on top of her posting game. Consistency is something I admire, because it reminds me so much of my philosophy when it comes to blogging.

@maquillageitup IG can help you to discover new beauty products! She does IG reviews, and goes in-depth on her descriptions. Not to mention, the makeup meme’s she makes are hilarious. Demo videos are also available on her account, which makes it a convenient way to preview the hottest makeup available on today’s market, before making that purchase!

@inspire_me_home_decor Interior Design Content Creator, Farah Merhi, outdid herself with this IG account. I’m obsessed with this one, because it inspires the interior designer in you. You’ll want to switch things around in your home, or day dream about a future décor style in the future for it. This IG account features home decors from many different other interior design accounts, which helps other decorators gain exposure. It’s definitely an account you’ll be scrolling through for over 30 minutes, and wonder where the time has gone.

@ayeshacurry is the famous GSW Steph Curry’s wife, but she doesn’t stop there. She engages in blogging, vlogging, and even has a cookbook out. Ayesha even has a new home food delivery service called Gather, where ingredients are sent to your door each week, and you can create meals according to her own recipes for your family. She’s got a lot of things going on, and her IG account shows that. She posts about everything lifestyle, and she’s got herself together, which I’ve always admired.

@oliviapearson is on the show WAGS on the E Channel, but long before she was a reality star, she was just “IG famous”. I’ll admit, this is one of my guilty pleasure follows, but the good thing about Liv, is that she runs a blog and YouTube channel with her cousin Natalie. They both create content catered to high-end products, and have great video and photography skills. Not sure how much of the content on Liv’s IG is her own, but it’s an entertaining account to follow, none the less.

What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts to follow? Check these out when you have the time, and enjoy your time scrolling!

Thanks for reading, and hope you’re all having a wonderful week!

Weekend Chit Chat: Décor & Dining

11 Jul

Hey guys!

Recently, I had a weekend full of back to back events, which included social gatherings, as well as dining experiences. I was fortunate to draw inspiration from them, and build this post together for your guys! If you’re ever in the West Miami area, and you’re a fan of experimenting with different cuisines, I highly recommend Aromas Del Peru.

White Sangria

My favorite drink there has to be the White Sangria, where they dice up fresh fruits into a mixture of white wine with juice, along with some dry ice for special effects (video of the drink is up on my Instagram @ClassySassG). Though you can select from the menu some delicious choices, my family and I much prefer the buffet special, which runs from 12pm – 3pm at the location in Coral Gables. I’m not sure if this special applies to their other locations in South Florida, as their website doesn’t mention it.

This includes all you can eat for one person, for $19.99. If you’re not familiar with Peruvian food, it’s a unique take on Spanish, Asian, and Native Peruvian influences all into one category. I thoroughly enjoy eating Peruvian, and here’s a peak at what my plate looked like at Aromas Del Peru recently.

Peruvian Buffet

Shifting restaurants, I also indulged in the Cheesecake Factory! I feel like whatever item your order on their menu, you can’t be disappointed. I myself haven’t tried everything on the menu, but when I do go, I choose an item I either have come to love every time I go there, or something completely new. I’ve tried everything from sandwiches, to lettuce wraps, to enchiladas. I had their steak tacos, and my mouth was in heaven.

The steak wasn’t hard to chew, and the small corn tortillas along with the side of rice with black beans made for the perfect Mexican dish. What I like about the Cheesecake Factory is that there is something for everyone on the menu. If you’re on a diet, there’s something for you. If you want a burger, they have that too. If you want an upscale piece of fish, it’s there at your request.

Cheesecake Factory Steak Tacos

You can never go wrong with a glass or two of Prosecco, so at Cheesecake that was my choice of drink. I’m not the type to order a Pina Colada unless I’m on vacation or in the hot sun at the beach. Prosecco is my favorite sparkling wine, and the brand varies. I’m no beverage connoisseur, but for a long time I couldn’t tell the difference between sparkling wine and champagne. The biggest difference is that champagne does not go stale if left in the bottle for too long, while sparkling wine does.

Finally, onto two little decoration inspirations I got while at different baby shower events. This particular decoration with the anchor details, helps if you’re on a budget, and the availability of baby’s breathe is usually easy to find. I liked the sailor themed mason jar with the flower pebbles at the bottom, because the detailing was simple, yet very crafty and creative.

I love DIY center pieces! The combination of daisies with baby’s breathe, along with sliced lemons in a watered vase, make for a beautiful center piece in the summer time. This was a Pinterest idea (as they usually are), and its ideas like these that make time and effort, along with care go a long way when putting a DIY idea together creatively.

Table Top Arrangements

That’s it for my chit chat post today. I hope you’ve enjoyed the read, and have a great day!

You get to choose what fun tid-bits to reveal as a blogger if you’re nominated to write your own Miranda Sings Award post! I want to thank Kimberly at Life Across the Hudson for this nomination. Her blog is absolutely beautiful, and I love empowering other bloggers.

This is a wonderful way to do so, and if you want to get the word out about your blog, along with supporting other bloggers, then keep reading and you might want to start your own chain of Miranda Sings Award blog posts (Tip: You don’t necessarily need to be nominated, be a trend setter and start your own!)

Blogging 101: Tips & Tricks

9 Oct

Hey everyone!

Today I’d like to share with you my own personal blogging tips. Some people avoid ever starting a blog, because they look at YouTube vloggers or famous bloggers with thousands of followers that review the most expensive branded products, and they think “I don’t have the money to purchase and the equipment to create content for these types of products.” My answer is: You don’t need to, at least not when you’re first building your audience database. There are tons of ways to become a blogger that doesn’t cost you so much money or time.

I’ve developed these tips through my own professional marketing experience, research of other’s tips, as well as incorporating my creativity into livening up my blog. I will be listing all of the websites I use down below. If you’re just starting out in blogging, or are already a blogger trying to look for new ideas, keep on reading!

So let’s start with the basics. If you haven’t yet created your blog, I would suggest WordPress or Blogger. These are great free websites that are easy to maneuver and manage as a blogging platform, without all of the complicated aspects of simple HTML. I chose WordPress, because in the professional world, most people use this platform, they taught me how to use this platform at my University in one of my courses, and I loved the layouts they had for blogs.

The only downside to WordPress, that I’m not sure that Blogger has, is that if you want to add certain plugins, you must have your own domain name, meaning “thegiftofgab.com” must be paid for on a monthly basis to remain open. I personally do not want to pay (at least not yet), so I opt out of any special effects that a domain name might allow me to have. That’s okay! The most important thing besides a domain name, is learning how to SEO your content.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it can be very beneficial in gaining content exposure. Once you’ve created a post, you can “tag” whatever important words you do mention in your content to make sure people who are using search engines stumble upon your blog. Let’s say I’m writing a review on a new L’Oreal product, I am going to tag the words “L’Oreal, Makeup, Makeup Tutorials, Makeup Reviews, Best L’Oreal products,” and so on.

Along with SEO, it’s important to use your already established social media networks to promote your blog content. I don’t personally like to use my Facebook for these things, because I have a lot of people that I do know on my account, and I just think sometimes they aren’t interested in brand focused content. Most Facebook users are interested in dog abuse videos, funny articles, or sensationalism from news media outlets.

I like to build my audiences from a different, broader perspective. If you’d like to use Facebook to promote your blog, I do suggest creating your own Like page, though I’ve yet to do so myself. I like to use Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Instagram for promotional purposes. I find that these are simple sharing tools, without all of the drama and negative attention. Again, these are just my personal takes on Social Media, so do with it as you please!

Planning your blog posts is so important if you want to keep your blog momentum going. We all have busy lives, and can’t write all of the time. I don’t necessarily write content on the spot, as I always have things going on. I like to schedule at least two blog posts a week, though others suggest three or more. I’d rather create “quality” content for you guys, rather than just write about anything and post it. Be aware of what content you create, and make sure you feel it’s your best and that your readers would appreciate it!

How do you build up your audience? I suggest you start by joining blogging networks such as BlogLovin.com. BlogLovin allows you to connect with other bloggers, while gaining subscribers. It’s important to always look at other blogs, and comment on them while leaving your URL in the comments. That way, you can create relationships on the net, and open yourself up to new audiences and possibly new affiliations and support.

Speaking of affiliation, you can gain affiliates that offer commission! I like to use the Rakuten Network or Commission Junction, which requires you to be accepted to join a brand on a mission of exposing their ads. You must put their ads on your blog in order to gain some sort of compensation. Once there are sales made from your audiences’ clicks, you’ll be paid for your participation. Affiliation can be a wonderful thing!

You’ll need to expose your blog on different networks, including those that connect you with brand opportunities. Brand Backer is an awesome way to join campaigns and connect with brands. They’ll send you products to review and instructions on what to do. I love this network, and have gained several opportunities from them.

The Shelf is another great way to get brands to look at your content. I have yet to receive opportunities from this website, but it’s good to have your blog “on display” on this network. Blog Her is a great way to create content on their platform and become eligible for guest blogging, or having your content appear on their website. It’s a great way to connect with other bloggers, and opportunities!

To gain inspiration, I always check out YouTube vloggers to see what is trending at the moment. This is a great way to find out about new products and techniques. It’s important to always keep your own twist on things, so be objective when viewing other content and add your own little spin to it. Here’s a great video on blogging tips by one of my favorite bloggers/vloggers, Marianna Hewitt.

Now, how do you get products to review for your blog? It’s so simple, I wish I knew this when I first started out. As you start to get opportunities, you’ll accept them and do reviews for them. You can start by signing up for freebies, or paying a very small fee to get a bunch of products for your blog content.

I love using my Ipsy Glam Bag items and Walmart Beauty Boxes to use for reviews. When I’m buying from online stores such as Ulta, Sephora, or Drugstore.com, I always do so through the Ebates portal, as I get cash back from all of my online shopping trips. It’s worth it!

If you don’t want to pay anything, you can opt in to join Influenster, Swaggable, Smiley 360, Pinch Me, BzzAgent, or Sircle Samples. All you have to do, is promote and review items, and then be eligible for free products to review, sent right to your home at no extra cost to you!

Freebie sites are awesome for not doing anything for products! Though you’ll have to do a long time of waiting to receive your products I like Get it Free, Hunt 4 Freebies, and My Free Product Samples the most!

There you have it! All of my favorite blogging resources and tips to get your blog started or to get it going! I hope you’ve enjoyed these and have found them helpful.

Subscribe for more content like this, and great opportunities ahead. Thanks so much for reading!

Weekend Chit Chat: Relaxing & Food for Thought

1 Aug

Hey guys, happy August!

I’m here relaxing and house sitting at a home away from home, and taking it easy this weekend. It’s crazy how not many people know how to be by themselves, reflect, and just take some me time when the opportunity arises. I’ll get more in-depth about this later in the post.

Let’s talk about the interior design of this house. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and it’s my first time staying here. This house has been sold, and I am sure whoever buys it will enjoy the room & space of decorating this place. Yet I think the new owners have a lot to live up to in terms of redesigning.

Just check it out for yourself! I love the earthy tones with the hint of yellow in the decorations. I feel it makes the house cozier in terms of giving a welcoming presence. The room is a blue theme, and it adds a calming and serene feeling to the house.

The tub was by far my favorite! I hope to own a giant one someday, as my current household has no tubs whatsoever, just showers. I’ve heard in terms of house selling that it’s hard to sell a house with no bathtub. Let’s see how that one goes when the time comes. I personally enjoyed relaxing with a bottle of red wine, Pandora streaming, and some nice reading material.

Blue Room

For those of you not familiar with Cuban coffee, you’re missing out. I must warn you, do not by any means take this if you have heart problems or it’s just too late at night. You’ll stay up, while doing jumping jacks around the house. Cuban coffee is very strong, but if you’re a coffee lover, chances are you’ve already tried this stuff. I made a pot this morning, and it came out delicious. One of the many perks of being born into a Cuban-American family living in Miami is being taught how to make some yourself!

cuban coffee

Now for my food for thought: It’s okay to take time “away” from your everyday schedule, and enjoy yourself, by yourself. Throughout my life, I’ve met a lot of people who were afraid to just take the time to be alone, and get to know themselves. When you do that, you become more secure in your own skin because you begin to understand your wants and needs. This is great practice for putting your own priorities first, instead of others.

I’ve always been an independent minded person, and somewhat of a lone wolf. I don’t ever need a big group of people surrounding me 24/7 in order to feed off of their energies. I am so sensitive to vibes and people’s energies, that I often feel drained if I’ve encountered any negativity, and then my anxiety kicks in. In order to clear my mind and thoughts, I retreat. When you recharge your batteries, and reflect by yourself, you start to realize that your own attention is what you need most.

You can achieve “me” time by taking time out to read a book, have a bubble bath, listen to music, go tanning, do your nails, or just doing anything of your choice for yourself with no apologies. Everyone and everything else can wait. When you get some time alone, remember it’s not time to feel sad or call up everyone you haven’t spoken to for months. Really take the time, and enjoy yourself. You’ll thank yourself, and you might discover parts of you that have been repressed due to outside influences.

So this week, I challenge you to try it out. That’s my little weekend chit chat for the end of July. Have a great week and month ahead!
