Top 3 Favorite 2016 Drugstore Mascaras

3 Oct

Hey everyone!

In the next few months starting with this post, you’ll see a lot of posts pertaining to what products I’ve enjoyed during the year of 2016. Today’s post is all about my favorite drugstores mascaras that I know I will be using well into 2017. They each have unique qualities about them, and I rate them from three to one as far as my scale goes in this video.

I explain what I like, and dislike about each mascara, and why I feel they’ve made it into my top three of this year. If you guys want to keep up with my YouTube channel, all you have to do is subscribe!

Thanks so much for watching, and I hope you’ve all found your favorite mascaras of this year as well!

Walmart Summer Beauty Box Review

21 Aug

Hey guys!

Walmart has sent me an awesome beauty box for the season of summer. Once I opened it up, I was pleasantly surprised with the items in this box. I only had a few misses, but the rest were hits! For just $5 during a four season year time span, Walmart has made me a happy camper once again!

I received a sample of One Direction’s You & I perfume, and I never even knew they made perfume before this sample to be honest. It was a nice powdery floral scent, perfect for a teenage girl. It reminded me a lot of Vera Wang’s princess, with a much lighter scent to it. I used the entire sample up during my vacation in Key West.

I was excited when I saw the Revlon HD lipstick in my box, but then I was skeptical. I opened the packaging, and I didn’t like how it looked. The lipstick was somewhat crumbling at the top, which I found odd. Once I applied it though, I quickly realized it was just another red lipstick, and held no special attributes to it. The formula was super creamy, which isn’t my favorite for lipsticks as it easily ends up on your teeth. It literally slid off my lips as I ate or drank anything. I guess I wasn’t that surprised, as most red lipsticks are just that… red lipsticks. You’ll get the usual mess. This is by no means a matte, long lasting lipstick. This was a miss for Revlon, which is unusual in itself!

The Neutrogena cleanser was a second time purchase for me, in a sample size that is. Walmart sent me one for spring and one for summer. Luckily, they both worked as facial cleansers for my mom and myself. I got a chance to test it out again, and when I did, I was missing my preferred green tea cleanser from St. Ives. This cleanser did not protect my skin from the humidity in Key West, causing my face to break out in pimples. I do much better with a cleanser that has salicylic acid in it.

I used the Beach Blonde Sea Salt Spray by John Frieda to at least do something with my hair in a humid tropical environment on vacation, and it was just okay. I have tried other sea salt sprays that did more of a trick. If I wanted to, I could have gotten the same effect this gave me if I just let my hair air dry and not do anything to it. This was just mediocre as far as sea salt sprays go. I have yet to try the Clear Scalp dandruff shampoo on my head because I’m someone who has only suffered once in my life from dandruff.

Yet I can say that dandruff shampoo is perfect for applying to any sun spots you have or peeling around the nose. I have been prescribed a shampoo to use on my skin before by a doctor, and it really works. It just clears away certain temporary skin problems you might have. I also used it to wash my makeup brushes, and I liked how soft it left them! For being a shampoo, this product has softening qualities from what I can tell, and it’s very versatile if you don’t need it for your shampoo!

There was a nice 23 grams in a mini tub sample of the Nivea Soft Crème in the box, and it’s one of my favorite items by far. The fact that the sample came in a decent sized tub, and came with a generous amount of crème inside of it, was amazing. It helps that the lotion is moisturizing and thick, just like I like it. Though I noticed, the lotion was encouraged for facial use, but I don’t recommend that personally as the formula can clog the pores. It doesn’t absorb like a facial product. It kind of reminds me of a body butter, and I as I’ve researched, the full size comes in a big tub, just like any other body butter would. I’m so excited to have this in my purse and on my nightstand!

Of course, one of my misses was from Ken Paves, as I reviewed a shampoo last month from the company that was sent to me in the spring beauty box. This time I received the volumizing shampoo and conditioner duo sample. I didn’t bother to try this, as my hair is naturally thick. I gave it to my mom, since she has thin hair. No “rave” review from her yet, but I’m glad to pass that sample on and take it off from my hands at least.

Just three days before my Key West trip, I decided to use my Jergens 3 days to glow sample, and I was so happy to arrive nice and tanned! Yes, if you don’t apply it carefully, you can get darker spots and orange stains, so be careful when handling this self-tanner. I’ve never tried any other self-tanning products other than Jergens, but it would be nice to find one that applies evenly without so much staining. All in all, it did the trick. I can’t really complain about the complexion it gave me either.

Receiving a sunscreen sample was a great move by Walmart. The sun is scorching out these days, and you can never get too much protection. The Aveeno sunscreen with SPF 30 I got couldn’t have come at a better time as I spent a lot of time in the sun recently. I just stuck it in my purse, and popped it out when necessary (a lot, the sample is finished). I loved how fast it dried on my skin without leaving that greasy feeling that most sunscreens do, and I was comforted with the protection I got. I read on Walmart’s website that Aveeno makes an SPF 50 version, so if I repurchased, it would be that one!

I like trying new mascaras, so I was happy when I got the Healthy Volume one from Neutrogena. It applied nicely, leaving my lashes nice and full. I liked the applicator that came with it, as it separated the lashes precisely for a natural yet effective finish. I hate when mascara clumps and makes the lashes look like spider legs. I had that problem with a MAC mascara I got a while ago, it was horrendous. I use it on the regular now, and it’s the first mascara I grab. I would repurchase this item for sure.

The Walmart Spring Beauty Box was my second box I’ve ever received from my Walmart subscription, and it was by far the best one for me. Spring’s box was okay compared to this one.
