September Monthly Favorites

30 Sep

Hey there!

My birthday has come and gone, and I’m officially a year older. September is always a weird month for me, because I have to remind myself I have to stop telling people a number I’ve gotten so used to saying for a whole year now. Yet, where would I be without my monthly favorites? I’m always indulging in the items I own, and find my little happy place when I start using them routinely. These next items are no exception to that.

A Thousand Wishes is a very popular fragrance at Bath & Body Works, but I’ve since had to stop purchasing any lotions from there due to skin allergies (go figure). I was happy to learn this scent came in a candle. It’s described as a mixture of champagne, peonies & almonds.

I can’t really say for sure that’s what it smells like, but I do know it has a very light musky scent to it, which is perfect for anyone who loves subtly but doesn’t want a scent to be faded away in the background at the same time. Whether you like strong scents, or light scents, I feel everyone would love this candle, and I highly recommend it!

I swatched both the Matt Kumar and Swag lippies and eye shadows in my July Ipsy Glam Bag review of this year. Since trying them out, I’ve become a huge fan of them. TheBalm Cosmetics and BareMinerals are both high quality cosmetics lines, and the shade selection I own couldn’t have been more tailored to my likes! TheBalm Cosmetics Matt Kumar eye shadow is rich and buttery, and packs a punch, so I always have to be cautious when dabbing my brush into it.

It’s so easy to get carried away with that shade. While the new Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolors by BareMinerals never fully dry into a true matte, they are quite comfortable on the lips. Swag is an everyday shade you can wear no matter the occasion, and it also leaves your lips feeling hydrated after use!

I ran out of my Sephora Water-proof Eye Makeup Remover, so I was able to truly make use of my Klorane Floral Water Make-up Remover, and I absolutely love it! I usually use it just to remove excess eye makeup that my cleanser, and Garnier Micellar water didn’t fully pick up, and it’s been working out wonderfully.

I’m also obsessed with everything L’Oreal this month, so excuse these next brand raves. I’m loving the new Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation, and find myself picking it up more often than my Infallible Pro-Matte. If you haven’t yet seen my video comparing both foundations, see it now here!

You’ll be seeing me talk about these mascaras for the next few months, because they have quickly climbed to my top favorites list. The L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara Primer along with the Voluminous Mascara are two drugstore duos you never want to underestimate.

I didn’t think much of them once I received them in my last Influenster Voxbox, but once I tried them out as instructed, I fell in love. The primer sets the lashes into place, and placing the mascara on top, creates a dramatic effect without having to put on false lashes. Who doesn’t want to save money on lashes? Pick these two up!

Included in my Voxbox, was an eye shadow form the L’Oreal Colour Riche line, in Paris Beach. If you’re looking for a matte, creamy, and pigmented lid base color, this is another one you don’t want to bypass at the drugstore. This shade is unbelievable for being a low-end product.

I even compared it to Urban Decay eye shadows, and was stunned to find this one was more pigmented than some of the UD lighter shades. I have been using this shade as base color ever since purchasing. It’s a beautiful, true cream white shade.

What are some of your September favorites? Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and I’ll see you back here on The Gift of Gab, for my October favorites coming up next month!

July Monthly Favorites

29 Jul

Hey everyone!

The summer months are quickly fleeing us, as we enter the last full month of summer with August. I’m much more of a fall girl (I was born on the first day of fall), but that’s because summer is technically here all year long in South Florida. I was able to test out a few products in July that I’m quite pleased with!

If you haven’t already watched on my channel, I did a huge Bath & Body Works Candle Haul. I highly recommend you sign up for their emails, because they will always let you know when it’s time to buy your favorite scents. I personally never buy anything full priced there, so when I found my beloved White Tea & Ginger 3 Wick Candle for only $11.25, I grabbed it in a heartbeat. Though I have many favorites from my haul, I find myself lighting this one the most. This candle’s blend of white tea leaves, citrus and a bit of spicy ginger, is surprisingly so soothing to me. I feel very relaxed once it’s on.

White Tea & Ginger 3 Wick Candle

I’ve always wanted to try any products from BECCA Cosmetics, and with my saved ULTA points, I was able to try the Best of BECCA Blushed Radiance makeup set, which I feel is the perfect way to try out new makeup brands you haven’t before. You don’t want to spend $60 on a single full-sized product if you’ve never tried a smaller sample before, but that’s just my opinion.

The set comes with two compacts of their Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal and their Mineral Blush in Flower Child. I couldn’t believe the pigmentation on Flower Child, as it packs a nice bright pink on your face if you aren’t light handed with it. Opal is a beautiful highlighter, and you can either create a natural and minimal highlight effect, or a dramatic glow as well. It’s a wonderful highlighter for the day and night time!

Best of Becca Blushed Radiance Set

The other two products in the BECCA set were the Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight Wand in Moonstone, along with the Backlight Priming Filter. These I could live without to be honest. The Spotlight Wand dries way too quickly for my taste on the skin, and cannot be blended in with a sponge no matter how hard you try to.

I would apply it quickly upon the cheek bones and then spread it evenly with a stippling brush, but even then I felt the product looked like more of a stain. The Backlight Priming Filter is just as good as my Magic Lumi Primer which costs less than $10. In retrospect, getting this set helped me find what products I like versus can live without, and that’s why it’s on this month’s favorites list!

NYX Lingerie July Fav

I was able to get my hands on two shades I’ve been wanting from the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick line. I made a trip to my local ULTA a while back, and the only shades they had were the ones that wouldn’t look good on my skin tone. I never wanted to buy them online, because the shade selection accuracy looked tricky.

There are a lot cooler tones than there are warm. Luckily, there are YouTubers out there like the wonderful Emily Fox with her swatch video, who make choosing a shade online a lot less scary. I decided that Push Up and Lace Detail were for me, and so far I’ve been loving these two. The formula can be a bit drying, but the durability of these lippies is unlike anything NYX has come up with in the past. I keep wearing both non-stop!

Finally, my last favorite of the month is a skincare product I’ve been loving. I have been testing out the Body Shop’s Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub since I saw it on sale at ULTA, and it was recommended for blemished skin. I suffer from allergies, along with redness of the face, and I’ve heard of the many benefits that tea tree oil could provide for someone like myself.

I’m SO happy I invested in this bottle, and plan to repurchase! I only use it three times a week, as it is meant to exfoliate, but I’ve read some reviews of people using it as their regular cleanser. It’s truly a wonderful product, and the fresh tingly feeling it gives once it’s on your face, makes it ideal to wake you up in the mornings!

Thank you guys for reading my July favorites, and don’t forget to subscribe to The Gift of Gab for more monthly favorite posts like these!

June Monthly Favorites

27 Jun

Hey there!

June favorites are finally here! Half of the year is done and over with, and it’s going by a little too fast for my taste. At least I’ve been enjoying a few products that I feel are appropriate for the Summer season. I also can’t seem to put them down.

Starting with my first Crown Brush that I’ve ever owned, the C427 Blush Brush. I received this in my April Ipsy Glam Bag, and it’s been put to good use. Though I decided not to use this as a blush brush as it was purposed for, I do use it as my highlight brush. I love the way the duo-fiber bristles pick up the pigmentation of my highlighters, as well as the softness of the brush for an easy glide-on of them.

FullSizeRender (3)

Another Ipsy item I’ve been loving was from my May Glam Bag, and it’s the BelláPierre Cosmetics Nude Gel Lip Liner Pencil. The formula is super rich and creamy, which is what I prefer in a lip pencil. I hate when a liner tugs on the skin of the lips, which can cause your lips and the pencil some damage. Instead, I opt for a gel like consistency in a lip liner, and this one does just that. The fact that it retails for $20, and I received a full size in my Ipsy bag for just $10, makes me realize how much I love being subscribed to Ipsy to begin with.

I’ve been liking my recent purchase of the SinfulColors Kylie Jenner Collection shade in Mauve On. I was passing by the display in Walgreens, and I saw a huge selectin for $2.99 each, so I figured why not try one? Turns out, this is a beautiful color, and I am a huge fan of mauve tones.

An item that’s not so new, but I’ve been enjoying every time I apply a nail polish, is the Seche Natural Matte Finish Nail Treatment. I purchased mine at CVS a while back, and I noticed how nice my nail color glides on, after I’ve used this as a base coat underneath. I sometimes wear it alone, as it acts as a treatment for stronger nails as well.

I have an upcoming Highlighter Challenge video coming to my channel in July, so if you’re not subscribed yet, make sure to be for when it goes live! During the video, I used my Borghese Splendore Brightening Makeup, and I fell in love with the illumination it gave me. I’m not a huge fan of liquid highlighters, and though I didn’t use it just to highlight in the video, I found that it gave a beautiful all-over glow. It creates this dewy look, with a beautiful sheen that can either be intensified or subdued.

My final favorite of the month is one I received in my Spring Walmart Beauty Box, and that is the CeraVe Healing Ointment. I have rough patches that aren’t exactly calluses, but also peel on my thumbs. If I put this ointment on overnight, I find that my skin is a bit softer in the morning. I feel like if this product came in a bigger sized tube, I would lather it on my feet and sleep over night with socks covering them. It basically feels like Vaseline, but with healing properties. A great discovery for me, thanks to Walmart!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my June Favorites read. Have a great rest of the week!

May Monthly Favorites

3 Jun

Hey everyone!

This month’s favorites include items of summer, travel, and swim! As you’ve probably read, I went on a cruise in early May. The items I’ll be discussing, were all of use during my vacation, and will continue to be for the rest of the season! I live in South Florida, so beach season is just beginning for me.

I had a small sample sitting in my bathroom of the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, and never got around to using it. I decided to take it with me on my cruise as a travel sized cleanser. My face instantly loved it, and I noticed no break outs what so ever after seven days of use. I’ve recently switched to a new cleanser by Eucerin, but I wouldn’t mind trying a full sized bottle CeraVe once I run out of that one.

You may be wondering where’s my May Ipsy Glam Bag review post. I won’t be putting that one up this month, sorry guys. As a recap, the bag was adorable but there were two items I gave away to a family member because I simply didn’t need them, and I thought they could make better use of it. I will be using two of the products I received in my next makeup tutorial on my channel. I’ll give you a hint: one is a lip liner from Bellapierre, and the other is a mascara from Smashbox. Make sure you’re subscribed to see how I demonstrate them for the first time!

One product I have written a mini review about on my Instagram, was the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Mud Mask. I fell in LOVE with this mask, and I’m so happy they sell it at ULTA. This mask contains ingredients such as yarrow and strawberries which clean out the pores. If you’re looking for a mud mask that works with your sensitive skin, and not against it, I highly recommend this one. It also smells fruity and feels like whipped cream on the face. My face was clear after just one use. Shout out to Formula 10.0.6 for featuring me on their Instagram page as well!

Being exposed to the harsh sun means you either tan, burn, and raise the risk of developing melanoma. I like to use sunscreen religiously whenever I know my skin will be exposed to the sun for over 30 minutes. I picked a value sized spray bottle of Coppertone Kids Sunscreen in SPF 50. I’ve read articles stating that the right amount of SPF to purchase is 50. Any higher than 50, may actually be harmful for you. This spray on sunscreen kept my skin protected, and I produced a nice tan in the process.

I picked up a travel size of Secret Roll-On deodorant, and this was unusual for me, as I like solid deodorants to begin with. Now I find myself grabbing for my roll-on much more these days. The only problem I have with roll-on deodorants is if you shake them, they splatter all over once you apply them. I do like the results, which means no residue left on your clothing, and well as long lasting protection. I’ve always been a fan of Secret’s solid, but now I’m glad I’ve found their roll-on to take along with me on trips.

A few months back, I was offered an opportunity by a marketer (which I won’t name), who told me the company Mirina Collections would like for me to be a “Mirina Girl”, and advertise one of their necklaces. While I won’t get into too much detail here because I hate bashing anyone, I do have a link at the bottom of an article explaining what Mirina Collections is truly about.

I will warn you, it’s not pretty. On to the positive note, I ended up loving my overpriced, unoriginal bulk-sold, necklace, and find it to be beautiful to wear on formal occasions. I wore this necklace on formal nights on my cruise, and it turned out to be a beautiful accessory. I guess there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for me in my situation, and I hope everyone that has fallen victim to the Mirina scandal has embraced their necklaces as much as I have!

Now on to my favorite new accessories! On board Royal Caribbean, I was gifted a hobo beach bag that I absolutely adore. I love how bright it is, and the paint splatter effect along with contrasting neons is what draws me to it. It’s perfect for carrying a rolled up towel, your sunscreens, and your electronics.

As far as the pricing of this bag, it was sold on the cruise originally for over $20. If you’re smart about your bargains, you could always wait until the last few days of the cruise before it ends, and they mark down any prices on items. This bag went all the way down to just $6! How’s that for bargain hunting?

Before my vacation, I decided to purchase two bikini tops from Target by Xhilaration, and they’ve become my go-to tops for beach wear. One has straps around the cleavage area and is black in color, and the other is in the modern trendy style I often see other people wearing, but in a bright pink and coral color.

These both fit wonderfully, and if you’re ever at Target, or want to check out their selections online (links below), I highly recommend them. Target sells affordable, yet fashionable bathing suits, and often have a long wearing lifeline.

I hope you all have enjoyed my May favorites. I love the summer season, and can’t wait to see what new items will be released this year to chat about. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

March Monthly Favorites

28 Mar

Hey everyone!

It’s time for my March favorites! These are recent products I’ve discovered, and some have been around for quite a while. Makes me wonder why I didn’t try them earlier. Yet there are a few new ones, which I’m so happy I discovered right when I did!

Unfortunately one of my favorites this month is almost finished, and not available for purchase at the moment. The lovely “Love” candle by Bath & Body works smells like fresh cherry blossoms with strawberries, and has been a joy to have in my household, particularly my room. This is a candle that is not overwhelming nor does it linger.

Love Candle

It would be perfect for the spring season, yet from what I know, this candle is not in season at Bath & Body works right now. It’s been a great lighting ritual, while it lasted. I’m probably one of the few people that go through a huge 3 wick candle so fast, it doesn’t last!

Onto makeup! I was able to purchase all of the new Kleancolor Mauve Madly Matte Lip Glosses, and one of them has stuck with me the most. The name of the product is deceiving though, because they aren’t a lip gloss at all.

The durability of these liquid lipsticks is amazing, and when in stock, you can purchase them on ShopMissA.com for just a $1. I will be having a full review video go up sometime next month, so make sure you’re subscribed to my channel so you see how I put them all to the test!

The shade Clay has been everything to me! Clay is a beautiful, lilac/mauve color. I never thought I would like a color like Clay, but it’s surprisingly very wearable, and a beautiful color for the spring time. It reminds me of ColourPop’s Trap, just with a much warmer undertone.

Where has the L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer been all of my life? Oh yea that’s right, I’ve been ignoring it at the drugstore. Wish I hadn’t for so long! The Magic Lumi Primer adds a subtle glow to your skin, and I like to either pat it on the areas I’d like to highlight on my face BEFORE foundation, or I just go into creating the mixture with a foundation, for an all over effect.

Another hidden gem at the drugstore this month, was the Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal. It’s such an amazing concealer, and for the price you can’t beat the quality. I just wish the applicator was easier, because I always squeeze out more than I need.

It works out, because having heavy dark under eyes requires packing on the concealer, so with my beauty blender I neutralize any heaviness in the area. If you haven’t see how I conceal my dark under eye circles, you can do so here on my channel!

Finally, the Rimmel London Natural Bronzer is an awesome drugstore bronzer to get that subtle glow. I have been looking for a warm undertone bronzer for a while now, that wasn’t too heavy so I could wear when I wanted to go for a soft/casual summer glow look, and this one achieves just that.

If you’re someone who loves intensity of bronzers, this one might not be for you. I do have intense bronzers, but I just feel this one is perfect for the day time. I would even say perfect for a work environment!

I hope you enjoyed my favorites in the month of March! These are all products that will get you spring and summer ready, and if any of you have picked these up, comment below and tell me your experience. Thanks so much for reading, and enjoy your week!

February Monthly Favorites

29 Feb

Hey guys!

Boy do I have quite a few favorites this month, you guys are in luck! I want to talk about why I’m loving these, and why I can’t seem to put them down. I guess I have been combining some gifts I received from the holiday season, and some that I’ve invested in since. Two of the products I will mention, were featured in a recent drugstore haul video on my channel, if you guys missed it.

Let’s start with lips, because I have quite a few products in this category to discuss. At the beginning of the year, I went to the drugstore and stumbled upon a new item, and that was the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss. I picked up the shade Bare Attraction, and I’ve been really impressed with this formula. I do want to add, this gloss is in no way matte or long wearing.

This is your basic lip gloss, except it has a fully opaque appearance and a mouse-like texture. I usually put this one on whenever I’m heading to class at my university, because it keeps my lips moist, while adding a nice flushed color to them. I haven’t tried the other shades, but as you see in my taste, I think I’ll be find with this one.

When I was at Ulta at the end of last year, I snagged a Liquid Suede Lip Cream by NYX in the shade Sandstorm. I can’t say I’m not disappointed that I didn’t wait for their Lip Lingerie release (true matte lip creams), but I am happy with how beautiful this shade is.

Like the Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss, this lip cream is nothing matte, and everything mousey. Sandstorm has strong hints of browns, and is on the cooler side as far as shades. This is another nude shade perfect for everyday wear, and I prefer it at night.

One lip product that is TRULY matte, and lasts for such a long time, is the Milani Amore Matte Lip Crème in Adorable. What a beautiful neutral nude shade, it’s truly my favorite for everyday wear, and that goes for day and night time! I have been obsessed with the line, ever since I got my hands on 5 different shades on the Milani website. Check out my review and swatch video for more details on this product!

Finally for lips, we have a not so new product that I’ve already discussed. I use this lip liner daily, and I am so sad that I’m running out, because it’s quite pricey. If you notice in most of my you tube videos, I reach for this pencil often, and that’s the ModelCo Illusion Lip Liner.

This pencil is super creamy, and glides on like a dream. It’s the perfect nude shade, and goes with every lip color in my drawer. I have heard ColourPop’s lip liners are creamy and very affordable, so when I run out I’ll make sure to purchase these and let you guys know how it compares!

Now onto palettes, and I have a GRWM video, using this palette on my channel as well. The Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette is so much more than a smokey-eye palette. You can easily wear these shades by creating a daytime smokey eye, as well as at night time with a dramatic one.

Urban Decay Smoky Palette.jpg

It’s so versatile, and I know people have often expressed how scared they are to purchase this palette because the shades aren’t as flattering in the pan, but trust me, if you take the plunge, you’ll be surprised at how much you’ll come to love it. Truly a beautiful palette by Urban Decay!

A new dry shampoo I’ve been loving since my Ulta Haul in the beginning of the month, has been the Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo. Not only does this smell AMAZING, this controls my oils for a day or so. It’s not as long lasting as the Tigi Rock n Roll Dry Shampoo, but it does work just as good.

Remember to shake the bottle, and then spray onto the roots, because like with many dry shampoos, this will leave a white cast in your hair. The trick with dry shampoos is to shake before use, let it sit in the roots for 5 minutes without brushing, and then proceed to brush the product into the hair.

Finally we’ll finish up with two face makeup products that work wonders alone or together. Also mentioned in my drugstore haul video, while I was at CVS, I decided to give the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream a try.

This product is in no way new, and has been on the market for quite some time, but I feel it’s perfect for everyday wear. Whether you’re heading into the office for work, or school, this is great for lighter coverage days. I found that it does leave a white cast in pictures, so just be aware of that when using this product.

The Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer will blow your mind. This concealer is in my top two favorites of all time, along with the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. The Amazing Concealer will conceal and brighten the under eye area. If you’re not a fan of thick concealers, you might not like this one.

This is more for those with extreme dark circles, like myself. Pricey, but worth every penny, because a little goes a long way and lasts you a longtime. I did purchase the full size, but it was on sale for $24. I would just invest in the smallest size at the moment, just to see how you like it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read, I know it was more than a handful of products I mentioned this month. Have any of you guys tried them out? Let me know in the comments below what you’re loving this February. Have a wonderful day!

January Favorites

29 Jan

Hey everyone!

I hope the first month of 2016 has been treating you well! For this month’s favorites, I’m recovering from holiday splurging, as well as some great finds! This list is lengthier than my others, but I figured why not begin the year with a little “oomph”?

First up is the raved about Carli Bybel palette. I do have a review for your guys in case you missed it here. This palette is the end and the beginning of everyday use. Carli Bybel knew what she intended this palette on being used for, and that is for every and any occasion.

The number of mattes and shimmers, along with the pigmentation of these colors, makes it so easy to love. Any ways, enough raving, I’m sure you read about it in the review. Definitely my favorite palette of all time that I own!

A steal that can be found exclusively at your local Dollar Tree, are some Wood Craft Cracklin Scented Candles. These candles may be $1 each, but man do they pack a scented punch. They are JUST as strong as Bath & Body Works candles, but for a much more affordable price.

You can light one of these little ones up, and in a few minutes, the entire room smells like the scent of your choice. I absolutely love these, and will keep repurchasing in the future once I run out.

I’m a fan of the elf Setting Spray, but I finally ventured out of my comfort zone as far as makeup favorites this month. I picked up a NYX Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray at ULTA, and I must say I am impressed. This doesn’t have a scent at all, and unlike the elf spray, this doesn’t feel refreshing once it hits the face. Yet, it does the job in keeping your makeup in place, and that’s more than enough for me.

The Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm is the most perfect face primer you will find yet. I know Nikki Tutorials was the first one to introduce this trend, but as of recent, Kathleen Lights did her own review of this primer on her channel. Since switching to this as my primer, I haven’t grabbed anything else. I also have oily skin, and have found that this balm gives me no problems what so ever. Pick this one up and try it out!

During my online Black Friday shopping trip to Sephora, I discovered their little $10 set specials. I did get my hands on a Too Faced one, which included their Better Than Sex Mascara, and their Eyeshadow Insurance Primer. I have been using that little tube of eye primer ever since I got my hands on it! I absolutely love the way it makes my eyeshadows stand out, while having the pigmentation last all day.

Another great product that works wonders for makeup setting is the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. This is a classic setting powder, which will never go out of style. It’s nothing special, but if you’re into setting powders like I am, picking up a trial version of this would be worth your while. I did receive this in a two piece set that ULTA had on sale for their Black Friday specials.

At Nordstrom, there is a rack of discounted items for whatever reason before check out, and this Philosophy Vanilla Coconut lip gloss just happened to be sitting there for $3. These usually retail for $8 or more, so this was a steal. What’s so great about these tube glosses from Philosophy, is that they actually moisturize the lips, while lasting quite a while. This flavor is delicious, I tried not to eat the tube. Though this particular item can only be bought on Amazon now that it’s discontinued.

I was so surprised when my Sephora reward came in last month. I chose to use my points towards the YSL Volume Beauty Mascara, and I love it! This mascara could be used for everyday wear, as it doesn’t give you too much of a dramatic lash, yet gives them a nice touch. The full size retails for over $30, so if you’re able to get this using your Sephora points, I’d highly recommend instead of buying the full tube.

Last but not least, is the Beautyblender Pro Sponge, and Michael Kors Sexy Amber fragrance. I have always been so hesitant in spending a nice price for a Beauty Blender, so I stuck with my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge, and other drugstore brand sponges. With that being said, I don’t regret my recent Beauty Blender Pro purchase.

This sponge blends out foundations and concealers so beautifully, you always wonder why you didn’t purchase it sooner rather than later. Though, you better believe I purchase this sponge along with the soap in a set. If it’s worth the amount of products you get, it can’t hurt to splurge either.

Since receiving my deluxe sample of Michael Kors Sexy Amber, I did get a full size of this fragrance as a Christmas gift. The sample was just too good to pass up at Sephora. This fragrance is so intoxicating, and smells like warm musky amber. You can wear it at night or during the day, and it’s by far my favorite new fragrance out yet!

That’s it for January Favorites! I hope you’ve enjoyed all of my new favs, and return more next month to see what items I’m loving then. Don’t forget to subscribe, and have a wonderful week!

November Monthly Favorites

30 Nov

Hey there!

Bye bye fall, hello winter! Here are my November favorites, that I feel have been appropriate for the season. I might even do a winter essentials post, since we’re hitting the December mark. With the holiday season here, there have been products I’ve been dying to get my hands on. Stay tuned to see which ones I will be sharing with you in the upcoming month of December!

Any ways, you guys know I love green tea as my afternoon snack. Yet this month, I get new brand of green tea that was so delicious, I began using it religiously. I switched on over to the TAZO Organic Pan-Fired Green Tea, which can be bought at any local grocery store. The taste is unlike any other green tea I have tried. The box describes the formula as being creamy, and it truly is! There’s an oaky flavor to it, since it’s been fired. This was news to me, who would have thought you can make your herbs “toasty”. Definitely a favorite for fall!

I am loving these two eye shadow quad samples I received during an ULTA promotion. You can see swatches, and read full reviews of the other products I received in that haul, here. I have tried ULTA brand eye shadows in the past, and to be honest, I hated them. I guess ULTA released a new formulation since then, and when I tell you these shadows are pigmented, THEY ARE.

With the exception to their matte shades (needs major improvement), if you pick up any metallic-looking shades, I know you won’t be disappointed. These colors are rich in texture, and luscious. I just love them, and as you can see, these colors are perfect for fall and winter!

So I’m late when it comes to the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat party. I knew the few times I’ve visited a nail salon, they would always use this top coat. I figured it was the UV ray lights that dried the polish fast, but this top coat helps immensely when it comes to that. I’m not a fan of the price, but I am a fan of the results.

I’ve been using this bottle every week since I purchased this on sale for $6 from ULTA, and I will be using this from now on as my only top coat. Your nails dry so much faster, and last longer. This is a must in your nail polish collection, if you don’t have time to sit around not touching anything for an hour or so. With this top coat, you only have to wait 5 minutes.

I’m always on the hunt for the perfect nude shaded nail polish, and when I found Dulce de Leche by OPI at my local Sally Hansen store, I almost couldn’t believe what a perfect color this was for my complexion. This nude has warm undertones in it, and it compliments everything you wear, and any season. Just because it’s about to be winter, doesn’t mean you have to store your favorite nude nail polishes away. If anything, flaunt them whenever you want I say!

I’ve been using the Eucerin Intensive Repair Crème for the longest time now, and every time I’m empty, I buy a new one. I figured I should add it to my November favorites, because I never talk about this stuff. This lotion is so underrated. I’ve tried many hand lotions throughout the years, as I get dry, peeling skin on my hands.

Yet this has been the most effective, and soothing lotion I have yet to try. I never go anywhere without it. I have a bottle on my nightstand, and one in my purse. The bottle is travel sized, and a little goes a long way when applying. Just a wonderful lotion, that will heal your skin, unlike other lotions that just make them smell good.

An awesome lipstain that I recently discovered is actually from the Sephora Collection. I am late to the party on this one too, because their Cream Lipstains are so affordable, and long lasting. They smell like cake, and apply like smooth powder. While they do last all day, you’ll definitely have to reapply after eating.

I’m wearing Marvelous Mauve so much these days, because the color is rich and has a beautiful plum tint to it. It’s a unique color to my liquid lipstick collection, and I highly recommend looking into their lipstains if you haven’t before.

Finally, I received a sample from Sephora of the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, and I have been loving it. While I don’t think this is the best concealer on the planet, the formula is easy to work with. I usually apply an under eye color correcting concealer from NYX first, and then with a small duo fibre flat top brush from BH Cosmetics, I pat the Maracuja concealer on top of it.

I then, extremely lightly, pat the formulas with a Real Technique’s sponge, and then use setting powder after wards. You have to be so careful, because applying under eye concealer can be tricky. Luckily, I have since changed my methods thanks to Nicole Guerriero. You can see how to apply concealer without ruining it, in her tutorial video.

Well that’s it for my November favorites! I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know if you’d like to see a winter essential post in the coming month or two. Enjoy your week!

October Monthly Favorites

30 Oct

Hey everyone!

It’s Halloween Eve, and October has come and gone. Where is the time going? I feel like this year has flown by so fast! Anyways, for some of you experiencing fall leaves, and beautiful weather, I on the other hand, am experiencing the same exact weather I had during summer. Welcome to the perks of living in the tropics!

Any who, I have some great products I’m loving this month! I’m such a huge fan of new discoveries, and this month I fell in love with a lippie that’s been out for quite some time now, but I never got the urgency to try. Now that I have, I wish I had tried it sooner!

Loreal La Matte Oct Fav

I found the L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick in She’s so Matte to be such a beautiful warm toned lip stain. I can say this color is buildable, and looks like a rustic nude orange. The formula will wipe off a few times, and then stay put.

I usually just blot it if I want a matte look, and if not, you can wear it to its full potential intensity! It’s so amazing for fall, and it stays on for at least four hours without leaving your lips. You will have to reapply after eating though, but that’s not a big deal.

Crease Brush

I have been using my Sephora Collection #12 Classic Rounded Smudge Brush so much since I purchased it for only $7 on sale on Sephora.com. Sephora had graciously put this baby on sale, and I had to get my hands on this brush because I knew it would sell out.

Let’s just say I use this brush for everything. I use it to create a cut-crease look, to add eyeshadow under my water line, and to reach those hard to reach places on the eye without ruining other spots. They’re selling it on Amazon only now, as it is sold out on the Sephora website.

The NARS Blush in Oasis is by far my favorite blush for this fall season. I can see why it would intimidate people, as it looks like there is gold glitter in it when you first open it. I promise, this is not the case when you blend it out on your cheeks. The sparkles and glitters fade away, and you’re left with a cool toned pink/mauve color on your face. I just adore this blush, and I reach for it so much now.

Face Makeup

I got the Too Faced Rock N Roll Palette last month for my birthday, and I have to say I’ve been enjoying this palette so much. It’s the perfect palette to create beautiful looks for fall. The pigmentation is awesome on the darker shades, and I will be creating a look next month with it for you guys.

The lighter shades I can pass on though, as I have drugstore palettes that give better pigmentation for those lighter shades shown in the palette. I guess I stuck to the higher end products spectrum this month, but it was so much fun to indulge in them. It’s nice to treat yourself every once in a while!

My new favorite dry shampoo is the TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo. It smells absolutely wonderful, like citrus mist. The thing I noticed with all dry shampoos is that you must shake the bottle before spraying onto your roots.

This dry shampoo tends to leave a white cast on your hair if you do not properly shake it as instructed on the back before use. I really feel that it absorbs the oil in my hair, and I like to leave it in my roots for a few minutes before brushing the product throughout the rest of my hair.

As far as scents goes, I found a new one that I’m loving. I had never tried the PINK body mist sprays that everyone would rave about, so I decided to give it a go and I bought the scents Total Flirt and Sun Kissed.

I like Sun Kissed, but it smells as if I got a refill of my Coconut Breeze from Bath & Body Works. I swear, they are the EXACT same scent. Definitely dupes for each other, if anyone is interested in looking into that.

Total Flirt is a nice scent that smells like a dry Floral scent. It smells as if it was a perfume more than a body mist. I bought mine in a bundle, and I know they usually go for over $20. I’m happy I did get it, and can say it’s my first ever favorite PINK body mist scent!

Nail Bracelet

I did buy an imitation Cartier nail bracelet on Poshmark. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and will last me a long time, as it is made of stainless steel. I find anything made with stainless steel can last me past 5 years before it starts looking dull. It was a great investment for me, and now I wear it everywhere this fall!

That’s about it for my October favorites. Thanks so much for reading, be safe this weekend, and I hope you guys got a feel for some awesome fall products!

September Monthly Favorites

28 Sep

Hey there!

Fall is upon us my friends, and this month’s favorites is a good one! I just have to say, turning another year older this month has left me with a bittersweet feeling. We often don’t realize how much time has passed us by, and yet how much improvement we’ve grown into.

This sounds corny, but my birthdays are less about me, and more about the people I am surrounded with as the years progress. Besides this little sappy intro, I did have a great birthday, and I also got to indulge in some new products as well!

I decided to venture out of my comfort zone of drugstore hair products, and I ended up buying a new shampoo and conditioner to try out. ULTA had an awesome sale going on, and I couldn’t help myself. I am now obsessed with Wella’s Brilliance line. They make shampoos and conditioners that cater to all different types of hair, and I’m glad I found them for my type!

Before this impulse buy, I had never tried any Wella hair products. My grandmother actually used all Wella hair care products when she owned a hair salon in Miami. How’s that for a little hair care history? The shampoo and conditioner smell like soft perfume-like candy.

It’s a hard scent to describe, but trust me it’s sweet without masking the refreshing hint it gives your hair after you get out of the shower. My hair feels so much softer, and it feels like it’s being taken care of. I will be repurchasing this shampoo and conditioner in the future for sure.

While at ULTA, I invested in their brand cleansing system. Yes, I do own one already that rotates too, yet I discovered the manufacture does NOT make replacement brush heads for their cleansing system. I was so bummed, but at least it came as a 5 piece set, and I can use that brush for other purposes. ULTA’s cleansing system is great in that there are replacement heads that you can buy for $8.

The only downside to this cleansing system is that unlike my Gyro one, this is not waterproof. I’ll continue to use my Gyro cleansing system with the other pieces, for when I’d like to exfoliate my body. The ULTA one will remain my day/night cleansing system outside of the shower. I must have overdone myself, but I like the fact that now I have one for the shower, and one for outside.

True to form, I would try one of Essie’s 2015 Summer Collection nail polishes on the month where fall starts. Yet I feel this nail color could be pulled off all year long, and that is why it is in this month’s favorites. I got Essie’s Pret-a-surfer because it looks like a washed out royal blue. It’s absolutely gorgeous on the nails, and the color is perfect for those who want to be bold without the shockability.

I did read some mixed reviews on some of the other colors, but I have yet to read a bad one about this shade in particular.  The next one I want to purchase from the summer line that could be worn in the fall is Private Weekend. Until then I’ll just say this: Pret-a-surfer, your name might be weird, but your color is on point!

I can never have too many makeup brushes, and I found such an awesome deal by BH Cosmetics for their 10 piece brush set, that I had to buy it! BH Cosmetics does make high quality products, and it’s a bit disappointing that they’re not spoken about in the media too much.

I got my brushes along with the Forever Glam Palette and one of their long lasting matte lipsticks in Faithful. The lipstick will be included in a special post along with swatches, and the palette will be up for review later this fall, so stay tuned for those!

This brush set’s purpose is to apply liquids, powders, highlight, and contour. They are of dual fiber material, which was nice as my Jessup brushes are not. I love that it came with four face brushes, and four small versions of those brushes.

I wondered what I’d use the smaller ones for, but I wasn’t about to let those babies go to waste. They are now my favorite! For the smaller versions, I like to conceal, blend out my eyeshadows (so amazing for that), and apply my eye primer.

The bigger brushes I use for foundation, blush, under eye concealer/brightener, sculpting the cheek bones, and applying all over bronzer. If I had to choose only one set of makeup brushes to use forever, these would be it. This set is extremely versatile, way more affordable than Sigma Brushes, and a must have in my book.

I was at Walgreens when I purchased the Better Skin concealer by Maybelline. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the concealer, than I have with the Better Skin foundation. I decided to give it a try, and it’s now my new favorite drugstore concealer for under the eyes.

I still use the Fit me concealer for highlighting, but I love the Better Skin one for under my eyes, as it provides a buildable coverage. It does take two coats to build up to full coverage, but it works wonders. Pick it up, if you’re in search of an affordable concealer!

I loved my favorites this month, and I plan on routinely using all of these products. Product prices might vary, as I purchased most of these during sales. Thanks so much for reading, and until next month, have a great one!
