Favorite Instagram Accounts I Follow

19 Sep

Hey guys!

In addition to The Gift of Gab, I also have an IG account that’s dedicated to my lifestyle. At times you’ll find me promoting my blog posts, YouTube videos, and products that I’m loving at the moment. If you don’t follow my Instagram, be sure to at @classysassg.

I have wonderful followers, but I’m also happy to state I follow accounts that serve different purposes, but I feel have the best content out there. It’s not often I grow to love an IG account, so you’ll discover the ones I discuss in this post, are a few that are worth the follow.

@thingsbitchessay is a parody account, dedicated to all memes meant to empower or expose the “HBIC”. A lot of the time, I can relate to this account’s posts, and I know a lot of girls would. It’s all in good fun, and the best part? It never portrays a woman as “weak” or a “damsel”. I often find that IG accounts dedicated to memes can be sexist in that it only shows the “man’s side” of things. Who doesn’t love an account like @thingsbitchessay that basically screams “I am woman, hear me roar.”

@tipsyontravel is an IG account based on blogger Leanne’s life. She records all of her travel adventures through stunning visual photography, along with detailed descriptions. I only follow travel and lifestyle IG accounts when their content is high quality, because who doesn’t get drawn in by sight? Also, photo’s that make you feel you are there in the moment, are the ones that transcend meaning most to me.

@olivia.lines will take you into her world, through her eyes. The contrast and saturation of her photographs, really make for a unique IG quality that not many accounts strive for because they don’t know that’s exactly what their viewers want to see. To be able to view a day in the life, whether it’s traveling to a foreign country, sitting and having your meal, or taking a photograph of street lights, this IG account’s authenticity makes it extremely fascinating!

@wineandfoodblog IG account is based off of the blog, Wine, Food and Friends, which is based around different recipes, that are categorized by each meal course. The IG account and blog owner, Lindsay, captures the essence of her recipes in her IG photographs, and usually focus on one item per photo. I find this technique appeals most to me because simplicity in staging is often all you need to reel your audience in for more.

@themiamimenu is an IG account dedicated to photographs of delicious foods, whether it’s homemade or from a restaurant in the Miami area. I live in South Florida, so whenever I see accounts dedicated to promoting foods in the area, I’m all for the follow. I also love to drool over amazing food photographs, especially if they are fattening just to get my visual fix. Then I pinch myself, and back on my diet I am again. No harm done, but I also get an idea of what I can indulge in come my cheat meal night.

@oliviathevegan is dedicated to veganism and the foods that the account owner, Olivia, eats on a daily basis. Her vegan bowl pictures always have me dreaming about eating them. I’m personally not a vegan, but I’m always on the hunt for new healthy recipes to incorporate into my diet, and she has the best ideas for just that! She makes veganism look easy, flawless and most importantly – delicious.

@beautybykat____ showcases her work of looks created on her YouTube makeup channel, along with product breakdowns of these looks on her IG account. I love how creative Kat gets, and is always coming up with amazing cut-crease eye makeup looks. She’s a natural artist, and her IG account expresses that point across to her audience. Plus, she’s a total sweetheart!

@christinaschiccorner is a beauty blogger who like me, promotes her blog posts often on her IG account. Christina has the best posts based all around beauty and lifestyle. From hair, to makeup, to skincare, she’s got it down to a science. She takes awesome photographs, and has a nice clean theme for her IG account. Plus, she’s on top of her posting game. Consistency is something I admire, because it reminds me so much of my philosophy when it comes to blogging.

@maquillageitup IG can help you to discover new beauty products! She does IG reviews, and goes in-depth on her descriptions. Not to mention, the makeup meme’s she makes are hilarious. Demo videos are also available on her account, which makes it a convenient way to preview the hottest makeup available on today’s market, before making that purchase!

@inspire_me_home_decor Interior Design Content Creator, Farah Merhi, outdid herself with this IG account. I’m obsessed with this one, because it inspires the interior designer in you. You’ll want to switch things around in your home, or day dream about a future décor style in the future for it. This IG account features home decors from many different other interior design accounts, which helps other decorators gain exposure. It’s definitely an account you’ll be scrolling through for over 30 minutes, and wonder where the time has gone.

@ayeshacurry is the famous GSW Steph Curry’s wife, but she doesn’t stop there. She engages in blogging, vlogging, and even has a cookbook out. Ayesha even has a new home food delivery service called Gather, where ingredients are sent to your door each week, and you can create meals according to her own recipes for your family. She’s got a lot of things going on, and her IG account shows that. She posts about everything lifestyle, and she’s got herself together, which I’ve always admired.

@oliviapearson is on the show WAGS on the E Channel, but long before she was a reality star, she was just “IG famous”. I’ll admit, this is one of my guilty pleasure follows, but the good thing about Liv, is that she runs a blog and YouTube channel with her cousin Natalie. They both create content catered to high-end products, and have great video and photography skills. Not sure how much of the content on Liv’s IG is her own, but it’s an entertaining account to follow, none the less.

What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts to follow? Check these out when you have the time, and enjoy your time scrolling!

Thanks for reading, and hope you’re all having a wonderful week!

Chit Chat: Special Event & Resort Decor

28 Oct

Hey everyone!

I attended the grand opening of the Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood, Florida this past weekend. I know there are tons of Margaritavilles around the country, but for me, this was my first time going to one. I had always heard it was great fun, and it truly was.

I enjoyed the restaurant, which served some awesome margaritas, and the live band played reggae music all night. It was such a nice atmosphere, and the restaurant was decorated like a map of the Caribbean islands with planes and boats to add to the feel to it. Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of this part, so just forgive me for loving my margarita a little too much, while singing along to Bob Marley songs that night.

Checking out the inside of the resort after wards, could have easily been an interior designer’s dream. The theme of the hotel was comfort, beach, with a twist of minimalism. Upon entering the resort, to your left, you’ll see a giant blue flip flop and a sign that says “No Passport Required”. You’ll see a hue palette of mustard yellows, oceanic blues, and the rest are your neutrals.

The floors are white tile with the middle being wooden tiled. I love this new trend of tiled wood, because it is chic, and looks so much easier to achieve if someone wanted to put them in their homes. I was wondering if the wood was glazed or not, but it seems to have some texture to it, without being rough enough to hurt anyone walking on the floors bare foot (gross, but you get my point).

What intrigued me most about this resort was the lighting. The lanterns on the ceiling are actual margarita glasses, and the lanterns on the walls appear to be another type of drinking glass. I’m not sure if it’s a wine glass or one of those glasses you put drinks such as pina coladas in. Either way, I thought it looked like something you can recreate from a website such as Pinterest.

Speaking of Pinterest, I attended a special event last weekend as well. I was surprised to learn that the set up for a spectacular baby shower for my friend, was actually inspired by Pinterest ideas. Now, I have always wanted to achieve Pinterest décor ideas on my own. The most I’ve gotten from Pinterest, is a delicious recipe for banana pancakes or other healthy meals. It was amazing to see the decor ideas that I have seen on the Pinterest feed, come to life.

I learned from the decorators, that most of these items can be bought at the dollar store, with a few DIY decorations as seen with this marsh mellow bouquet, along with a spray painted box and old-style milk bottle. You can decorate on a budget when it comes to special events such as baby showers, and that’s what makes Pinterest so handy when trying to achieve an elegant style without breaking your wallet.

The table set was pink with white themed for a baby girl, and I honestly loved the giant storage jars they put little gum balls and other color coordinated candies in. Appetizers, such as cake pops and bruschetta with Italian baguette crackers, were place in either little disposable appetizer holders, or on a tray that was also from the dollar store and spray painted.

The beverage station was by far the cutest idea. Mason jars were placed on the top, and in the inside of a small table that is a regular staple in the household. Guests were given the choice of a watermelon punch/prosecco refreshment, or a strawberry punch/prosecco choice. The straws can be purchased anywhere, even at discount stores.

These ideas just prove that anyone can recreate their favorite themed ideas, even if they can’t find the items as seen in pictures. Sometimes you just have to get creative! I hope you’ve enjoyed my post on special event and resort decor, and make sure to always check Pinterest before planning any major event. I know I will!

What’s in my makeup bag? – Summer 2015 Travel Edition

10 Jul

Happy Friday guys!

I’m off to my little vacation get away and I will be doing a blog post soon upon my return! Before leaving, I had to create a check list of all the things I’ll need, and makeup was no exception. Check out the items I selected to take with me in my makeup bag!

The place I’m going to is extremely humid, and with record breaking heat temperatures this year, I had to make sure to also stay protected by the UV rays. These is all warm climate friendly items, while being compact enough to allow me to take just enough product with me along the way, without all of the clutter.

First, let’s start off with the necessary-can’t-live-without products. If you’re traveling to a warm place for a vacation, you’re going to want to pack a small blending sponge because foundation brushes tend to be bulky (mine is a dupe that works just as good as real techniques & beauty blender original by Studio Basics). Make sure to bring a primer to hold everything together, preferably in a compact size too. I was lucky to be able to take my sample size from an Ipsy Glam bag I received. You’ll never know when those little suckers come in handy, like now.

A BB cream or foundation in tube works best for travel, as I find it’s less messy and more accessible. As far as concealer, you’re going to want that in a non-mess tube too. You can never go wrong with Instant Age Rewind by Maybelline, I guarantee you. To set the look, take a matte powder of your preference and a small powder brush to finish everything off. I love e.l.f. brushes and Rimmel London products because they are absolutely affordable and travel friendly. You’ll be just fine if you bring these with, but if you’re like me, you need a bit more product to set even the most casual look.

Since I am going to a tropical place, I love a dewy, summery look for the day time as well as night time when it’s time to sight see. I took my Mega Glo powder container that includes a two highlights and two blushes. To apply the blushes and highlights, take a small duo fibre brush, like this e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush, and apply the product. This brush is my holy grail, and it perfect for traveling. It can even blend foundation very well.

Also by e.l.f., I grabbed an SPF lip gloss in a sheer nude color with some metallic hints to it. I just love the fact that you can wear a lip gloss with SPF and kill two birds with one stone by staying protected and having a lip color on! I also wanted to take a non-SPF clear gloss to keep the lips hydrated, and this is just a minty gloss I got from a Shop Miss A haul I did. You can’t forget a bronzer when you go to a tropical place, so I brought a nice on from Sephora I bought a few years back, which I use constantly!

When going for a night time look especially, you’ll want to cater to your eye look the most. I brought two Eco Tools eye brushes that came in a set from ULTA. The fact that they are duo ended make them super convenient. As far as eye shadows, you can take small palettes like the Cover girl quad and Estee Lauder disc I took with me. Anything drug store or small will work better for travel, and will prevent you from breaking a nice big palette of beautiful colors you just didn’t want to ruin. A lot of things can happen on vacation guys! I grabbed my trestique shadow crayon sample from my Ipsy Glam bag, a sample Sephora mascara, and my favorite liquid sponge tip eyeliner from NYC to pull the eye look together.

As far as optional items you can take goes, you can bring an extra highlighter for the face if you want an even more glammed up look as well as a flat foundation brush if you’re not comfortable with a beauty blender yet, or like to blend the concealer with a brush. If you’re a girl who must have a little contouring that bronzer can’t do, NYX’s wonder stick is really a travel wonder.

There is also adding another hint of blush with cream, so if you need to, just take a stick blush! I didn’t include any brow powder because I usually don’t do much to my brows when I travel, and when I do, I add some brown matte powder from one of my palettes and throw on some brow gel. Here’s a travel-friendly simple on-the-go look I created with some of the products  I chose. Finally you can grab whatever sample perfume you have, and enjoy!

So that’s it from my makeup travel bag for this summer, I hope you liked it and got some of your own ideas for your next travel bag! Thanks so much for reading, and enjoy your weekend!
